Sorry for the delay in this week’s podcast, but as you have probably been aware of at this point in time, we have been performing some behind the scenes secret maintenance for the site that will hopefully make things a little better when you come to visit Aeropause Games.

As for the actual content for this week’s podcast, we cover all sorts of crazy stuff including the idea of whether pricing for downloadable games should drive the price of games downwards, the new Sony Play event and yes, how Fourhman wishes to be swaddled in a comfortable baby bjorn nested on Haygood’s chest.

Wait, that may not have come out as well as it could have, but that is the Aeropause crew for you. Always making your day more uncomfortable for an hour at a time.

Vita Launching in US, EU in 2012 at $250

Kazuo Hirai has confirmed in an interview that the Vita will launch in 2011 in Japan, but will appear in the US and EU in early 2012. They’re also sticking to the $250 price on the WiFi version. Why the wait? To allow a stronger lineup of launch titles in these territories.

Sure Sony loses out on Holiday 2011, but they need to come on very strong at the outset, and if they can secure a lineup that capitalizes on the handheld’s strengths — a big IF to say the least — it will be worth it for them to get their ducks in a row before launching.

As someone who can’t get near my PS3 or TV much before late at night these days thanks to my kids getting older and staying up later, I’m excited about the prospect of a souped up handheld aimed at the hardcore gaming crowd. If I have to wait maybe six more months for it at the most, that won’t kill me. I still have a decent backlog on the PSP itself to work through.

This week on the Aeropodcast, Fourhman, Haygood and Stephen discuss what might have been behind the recent decision from Nintendo to cut the price of the 3DS by $80. Did they feel the pressure of the Vita shipping at the end of the year at the same price, or could it have been due to slow sales for the device after four months. Or is it the pains of having to compete against the likes of the Android and iPhone devices that are selling us games for a $1.00 a pop. We look at all of those avenues, as well as answering a question from Harshy about whether it is wiser to buy a 3DS now and get all the free games Nintendo is offering, or just wait for the price cut to get it.

Pre-orders of Persona 2 PSP Will Ship with Soundtrack CD

Atlus announced today that a 10 track, mini-soundtrack CD will be available in limited quantities for those that pre-order Persona 2: Innocent Sin for PSP. Persona 2 is the only game in the Persona series that did not see a release outside of Japan, and the same goes for the soundtrack.

The soundtrack will feature tracks from the PSP version of Persona 2, a few from the original version of the game, a couple of remix tracks, and finally a few that do not even appear in the actual game. To celebrate this announcement, Atlus was kind enough to send over a new batch of screens for gamers to peruse, so sit back and check them out after the jump.

Persona 2: Innocent Sin for PSP is set to release during the Fall 2011 timeframe.

This week on the Aeropodcast, we celebrate the San Diego Comic Con by talking about some of the best, and worst that have come to gamers with superhero adaptations. Of course, the game above is mentioned, but we look at some classic titles and more when it comes to superhero games.

Also, we talk up the recent clearance bonanza for those that visited CheapAssGamer.com and got in on the $15 Guitar Hero/DJ Hero bundles. Who went in, and who skipped out on this deal. We were also joined by S-Tip in the episode who, as most cool kids do, talks about himself in the third person and talks about the trials and tribulations of being in a multi-million dollar selling band.

So this week on the Aeropodcast, besides being on time for a change, we have a decent discussion about the recent spat between Origin and Steam and what it means to gamers in the long run. But before we even got to that point, Fourhman and Haygood also dropped into the hatred surrounding the announcement of the newest entry into the Burnout franchise, Burnout CRASH. Yeah, it does not end well for Criterion on that one.

Aeropodcast #188: One Save to Rule Them All

In the second half of our double header podcast post today, Fourhman and Haygood talk about the decision by Capcom to use a single save game that cannot be deleted, meaning that things unlocked will stay unlocked. Is it a big deal that only one person can unlock this stuff, or for this style of game it does not matter as much? We also talk about the idea that this is solely being done with this title to remove the option of trading in the game, as the game would in a sense, be broken for a future owner, as everything would be unlocked.

We also have a quick discussion on the idea of Wii U for people and if it can be successful as well as the recent Supreme Court decision on California’s violent video game law.

Okay fans, we have some good and bad news with this podcast. First off, the good – it is the only time you will probably get to hear Fourhman try to talk gangster in response to my comments about the meaning of the number 187 (the penal code for murder in California). The bad – there were some issues with the recording tracks with bleedthrough on one of the audio tracks. Sorry about that.

We do wrap up E3, including the rest of Haygood’s Thursday at E3 as well as Roberto’s E3 experience. We also talk about a special E3 bounce house and our ups and downs for the show.

Aeropodcast #186: E3 Blowout Part One

Hello Aeropausians, we are back with a podcast after going dark for a few weeks. No, we have not gone away, and no, the podcast is not gone. It was more about this little event that happened called E3 Expo 2011. It took up a lot of time over the last few weeks, and while we thought about doing some podcasts on the go, it became obvious that we had way too much to write about to get the podcast up for the last few weeks.

That said, we cover a ton of ground in this podcast, with Haygood and Fourhman going over the things that they saw during E3 this year. We had looks at the three press conferences, as well as some of the company specific conferences for EA and Ubisoft. We also talk about a ton of games. So many in fact that we ran short on time to get it all in. Yes, even at almost two hours, we still have more to talk about so we will have a second wrap up show this week to cover the rest as well as put in some opinions on everything, including some best and worst items.

PlayStation Store AND Kevin Butler are back in action

Sony’s handmade adver-mouthpiece Kevin Butler has broken a monthlong Twitter silence with a quip about his beard. His re-emergence is timed with the return of the PS Store and the impending arrival of E3 2011. Does this mean Mr. Butler will be on the E3 stage to bear the weight of Sony’s network hack and service outage? I’m betting yes, because the actor can get away with saying stuff that the stuffed suits would probably rather not have come out of their mouths. Like, say, die hackers die.

The Store update looks to be making good on that month of downtime… a staggering eleven full games, six demos, and a list of add-on content, price drops and ancillary downloads that will cramp up your scrolling finger. Plus over 75 Rock Band tracks!

The Welcome Back packages are, unbelievably, still not available. Sony is still working on that. The company promises “soon” on those, as well as regular fresh Store updates during E3 week.
