Do you remember the hilarious police car intro in the movie Naked Gun? The crafty folks over at Games Radar did a parody of this using a cop car in GTA IV the same way. Just one question guys, why didn’t you go through the Car Wash, too?
After this video, check out the original Naked Gun version
Okay, with Grand Theft Auto IV taking up most of the media’s attention, THQ and Volition felt that they needed to remind us about their upcoming game, Saints Row 2. The commercial is pretty funny and does make some good points, but some of it looks a bit too cartoonish, and takes away from some of the grittiness that was there in the first Saints Row. It gets an A for being funny, but a B- for making me want the game.
Thanks to Gamesradar.
The Onion has given us a quite humorous look at the inner workings of Liberty City. My favorite part?
Perhaps even more alarming, city records indicate that more than 75 percent of perpetrators in mass-murder or vehicular-manslaughter cases escape, usually by simple methods such as driving into a car-repainting facility. Criminals have even eluded pursuit by walking into their apartment and going to bed for six hours, after which the search has been called off.
I highly recommend giving the article a look.
While PC gamers continue to wait for the Rockstar announcement that Grand Theft Auto IV is coming to the PC, THQ has stepped up to the plate and it looks like Saints Row 2 is coming to the PC. Blue’s News had a little blurb about a product information site in the UK that shows a PC version of the game, with the same release date as the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. Gamestop has also put up a product page for the game with a $40 price tag.
Surprisingly, I really liked Saints Row, after I started playing it, somewhat more than Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The huge character customization features, and more “to the streets” style of gameplay really played out nicely, and I kept thinking to myself how much better I could be at that game if it would come to the PC. Now it looks like Saints Row 2 will fill that need, and maybe put some pressure on Rockstar to put GTA IV out before this drops on the platform.

Jeremy Gundel of College Humor put together a comical list of: “Things I’ve Learned On Xbox Live”. Jeremy’s list makes a pretty good attempt at understanding how the young adolescent male mind works while playing video games. His second to last point:
Everybody loses sometimes
Don’t feel bad, It’s probably just a result of you “sucking goat balls.”
It’s true, Jeremy. I’ve noticed this a lot on Xbox Live and more recently in multiplayer mode in GTA IV. If you’re really good in a game; kicking ass and helping your team NOT die, they’ll want to add your Gamertag to their Friend’s list. On the other hand if you just plain suck, you’ll hear about it or better yet they’ll try and make you look like an ass in front of everyone else by way of shooting or bad mouthing you. Where’s the camaraderie? In the Clans I suppose.
Presenting us with his utmost experienced opinion, John Blyth a “Professional Video Game Player”, attempts to convince gamers and game bloggers alike into rethinking the way we play and write about Grand Theft Auto:

Last night the 2.35 firmware update for the PS3 was released to address stability of certain unnamed titles. Immediate comments on the PlayStation Blog thanked Sony for addressing GTA IV problems, but an official Sony response, always highlighted in red to stand out, noted that this update doesn’t have anything to do with GTA IV and that users should contact SCEA support for a solution. The more interesting news is that 2.40 will apparently include 2D trophy support in the XMB, as opposed to full 3D trophy support that will debut in Home.
The guess is that the 2.40 update will hit next month, perhaps close to Metal Gear Solid 4. PixelJunk Eden’s official page notes a Summer 2008 release date and “Trophy support” — that’s where Sony spilled the beans on the trophy update on the game’s official page. If the rumored release of the 2.40 SDK to developers happens in June, and the assumption that trophy support is only available in that update is correct, then I don’t believe we’ll see trophy support patched into any existing titles for a while.

The webcomic known as “a softer world” reminds us that there are worse things than killing hookers in GTA IV.

As a PS3-only gamer I’m sad that Crackdown is a Microsoft exclusive property. It’s probably the first game I saw on the Xbox 360 that I’d have bought a 360 for, assuming the things didn’t die left and right and I wasn’t happy with my PS3.
But for the lots of folks with a 360 who haven’t picked it up it’s now available for just twenty bucks thanks to CAG’s connections with GameQuestDirect. It’s got all the open world run and gun fun with a thin story and next-to-no controversy compared to GTA IV.
Seen on CAG.
