This week, we have three bands releasing tracks on the Rock Band marketplace, including The White Strips, Kasabian and The Damned. The White Stripes make their debut in Rock Band with a three track song back, that includes “Dead Leaves and Dirty Ground”, “Girl, You Have No Faith In Medicine” and “Icky Thump”. All but “Icky Thump” will be available in Lego Rock Band.
For those of you that have Rock Band Unplugged on the PSP will have two new tracks to add to their library. The first is “Excuse Me Mr.” from No Doubt and “I’m Shipping Up To Boston” by the Dropkick Murphys.
All tracks are 160 Microsoft points, 200 Wii points or $1.99 on PS3. The three White Strips tracks can be had in a package on the PS3 and 360 for $5.49 and 440 Microsoft points depending on platform.
Bioware and Electronic Arts made the announcement that Mass Effect 2 would have a special edition release, adding several bonus items for your extra dollars.
Coming in a tin box package, Mass Effect 2 Special Edition will ship with a copy of Mass Effect 2, a 48-page “The Art of Mass Effect 2″, a copy of the first issue of the Mass Effect Redemption comic book and a pack-in DVD that has a “Making of” documentary and more.
More controversial will be several special weapons that you will only be able to get if you purchase the special edition of Mass Effect 2. Currently there are no plans to put these weapons out as DLC later, so it will give those that buy the Special Edition, a leg up on those that buy the normal version of the game. Since it is a single player game, it is not a balance killer, but I just hate it in general when a developer and/or publisher decides extra weapons should only be available to you if you spend more money on a deluxe edition of a release.
If you are interested in the Mass Effect 2 Collectors Edition, you can pick it up for $69.99 on the Xbox 360, or $59.99 on the PC. Check the jump for a few extra details in the press release.
This week, we have a plethora of bands coming to the Rock Band marketplace. First off is a four pack of Foo Fighters songs, followed up by a trio of Nirvana tracks. And finally we have a track from Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, which will also work with Lego Rock Band.

Late last week, we mentioned that Bioware was looking for a replacement for TeamUSA to participate in their Warden Quest event at London, England. Now it appears that the event has started and that you can watch all the action in the event by going to www.wardenquest.com.
10 teams are battling it out for Dragon Age: Origins supremacy, while a team will face elimination every couple of hours. The winning team will take a four way split of $50,000 in prize money.
So to recap, 40 gamers get a trip to London, England to compete for $12,500 in cash, while playing Dragon Age: Origins before anyone else. Me = jealous.
The good folks at Bioware have released another trailer for the upcoming release, Dragon Age: Origins. The developers are showing off more of the creatures that you will encounter in the game, including how they are fully realized in a 3-D world.
Sequences in the video also show off the multi-faceted combat system, which allows players to attack creatures from all sides of the battlefield.
Dragon Age: Origins is set for a November 3rd release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
Double Fine and Electronic Arts announced the first heaping of DLC for Brutal Legend today, and it looks like we are in store for new maps. Yes, the Tears of the Hextadon map pack will be coming to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on November 3rd and 5th repectively.
Tears of the Hextadon will contain two maps for multiplayer duels online, with the first map taking place on a circular battlefield, while the second will take place on a long and narrow stretch of a canyon. The big news for this map pack is that Playstation 3 owners will get the DLC as a free download if they get the maps before November 19th, while they will be full price on the 360 at the day of launch.
Tears of the Hextadon will cost 400 points on the 360, while the Playstation 3 will charge $4.99 after November 19th. Seems a bit pricey for two maps, but for those that enjoy the stage battles in that game, this will only expand the choices when going online with Brutal Legend.

Bioware has a long tradition of providing PC players with great toolsets to build new adventures for their RPG titles. Now we are starting to see the next generation of their toolset that will be available for modders to work with Dragon Age: Origins, and it looks rather epic.
Now, modders will have access to new tools that will allow for cutscene development, voice over work, large special effects and so much more. While it is not outright mentioned in the trailer, I would have to assume this development toolset will be available for PC users only at this point in time.
Now if Bioware would just release a toolkit for Mass Effect on the PC, I could actually design some worthy side quests to play through.

Once again, Visceral Games’ Dante’s Inferno has hit the headlines. And once again, it’s for all the wrong reasons.
This time the game has caught the patently unimpressed attention of the INA – or the International Nanny Association to you and me. Via a statement at Game Politics, they’ve publicly chastised the “Bad Nanny” achievement which celebrates the destruction of a “yet undetermined number of unbaptised infants”, stating the the award was “created out of poor taste and bad judgment.”
Know what? Maybe they’re right. It probably is in poor taste. But they haven’t called it the Good Nanny achievement and – hang on, isn’t this just a video game? Isn’t this just fantasy?
“INA is opposed to video games that promote and encourage players to ‘kill’ babies, even in fantasy play,” the Association says. “It is our opinion that this type of play may promote violence towards children. The name of the trophy or achievement, ‘Bad Nanny,’ is offensive to our association in that we strive to promote and educate the public regarding the selfless work nannies do to support families by providing quality in-home child care.”
Sigh.
So let us be clear, gaming public, lest there be any confusion or ambiguity about this emotive topic. KILLING CHILDREN IS BAD. There. That should fix it.

If you have been under a rock the last month or so, you might not have realized that the Abbey Road album was coming to The Beatles: Rock Band today. To celebrate the occasion, Harmonix has put together a new trailer highlighting the new tracks that you will get to play, along with the new dreamscapes that will accompany the tracks.
The DLC is running about 1320 points or $15.99 on either the Xbox Live Marketplace or Playstation Network for the “Complete the Album” deluxe package. Individual tracks are available on Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 for 200 points, $1.99, or 16o MS Points.
Now we just wait for the official word from Vikki and Jordan on the verdict with the additional tracks.

Today, we received more screenshots from the upcoming fantasy RPG title Dragon Age: Origins, and this time, they seem to have focused more on the towns, villages and scenery that players will find in the world. Bioware continues to impress with the visuals in Dragon Age: Origins, with some of these screenshots looking very realistic at times.
About the only complaint I can find so far is that we are getting so much info via screens and videos for Dragon Age: Origins, I wonder if there will be any surprises left when the game hits shelves early in November.
Check the jump for a couple dozen more screens from Dragon Age: Origins.
