Expect to see some gory short films available on Xbox LIVE for free via download or streaming this fall. It’s all part of Microsoft’s “Bringing Comic-Con Home” event, a behind-the-scenes look. The horror comedy film concept is the works of filmmaker James Gunn (“Slither,” “Dawn of the Dead”) and producer Peter Safran (“Scary Movie,” “Meet the Spartans,” “Disaster Movie”) who will bring some of the best horror directors to life on Xbox Live.
Here are some of the directors:
James Wan (“Saw,” “Death Sentence”), David Slade (“30 Days of Night,” “Hard Candy”), James Gunn, Lucky McKee (“May,” “The Woods”), Andrew Douglas (“The Amityville Horror”) and Marcus Nispel (“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Friday the 13th”).
Peter Safran:
“We’re excited to launch the Xbox original content with these world-class directors, who are all tremendously talented and at the cutting edge of their craft,” Safran said. “Their youthful and innovative approach is the perfect combination for this unique digital venture with Xbox 360, and we expect to see some very creative, horrifying and hilarious shorts as these masters of horror present their comedic vision. We can’t wait to give fans at Comic-Con a taste of what’s to come.”
This is a great news as I love horror flicks, and we should see some pretty creative films from these talented directors. The idea reminds me of when BMW, I think it was, allowed film directors to produce web shorts on anything they wanted a few years back, as long as it had their branding in it.

Blast zombies climbing fences before they jump on you in the first person. You’re armed only with a shotgun, mouse and keyboard. This little online game gets quite difficult after you’ve killed the dozenth one or so. Also included are nice features like Zombies destroyed, shots fired and even the ability to change the resolution. Blackout is easy to control, nice graphics and just plain fun. Quick, the boss is coming!
