So, after a long day of shopping and some major gaming this evening on the 360, I decided to come back to my favorite gaming machine, my PC. Upon loading up Steam, I was greeted with the news that everything on Steam is now on sale, anywhere between 10-75% off. Some of the deals include Bioshock for $4.99, The id Super Pack for $34.99, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky for $17.49 and even Valve darling Portal is marked down to a low $4.99.
Take a look at all the deals going on and see if the PC gamer in you can find something that might fit the game craving you have had since beating all the games you got on Christmas!
The PlayStation 3 gets just a few exclusive games this month amidst a flood of cross-platform titles, but those exclusives are all excellent titles on the system. The headliner this month is definitely going to be Resistance 2 (IGN: “Incredible” 9.5) with a strong single-player, separate 8-man co-op, and a dizzying 60-person online competitive multiplayer option. Also coming this month is something pretty rare on the PS3 these days, an RPG in the form of the Sega-published Valkyria Chronicles (IGN: “Outstanding” 9.0). Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm (IGN: “Impressive” 8.4) is another exclusive. All three of these are headed our way on November 4th, which is also Election Day in the United States.
Late-launchers on the console this month include Alone in the Dark: Inferno, which is a somewhat revised and tweaked verison of the same game that arrived on other platforms a few months ago and Age of Booty hits the PSN a month after launching on Xbox Live Arcade. Age of Booty was to get Trophies patched in after and October release but it’s not known if the delay allowed the developer to add Trophies in for this month’s debut.
The BioShock Challenge Rooms are slated to hit the PS3 on November 20th for an unknown price. I don’t believe these are headed to the Xbox 360 or PC versions of the game.
A number of other cross-platform titles this month are showing up with Trophy support.

If you are a listener to the Aeropodcast, you have probably heard myself rattle on to no end about the control issues in Scarface. It was buggy, remaping did not work, and generally overall, it sucked to have to use a third party gamepad mapping software to make the game work. It just seems that when multiplatform games are developed, the PC ends up getting the short end of the stick when it comes to translating controls to the mouse and keyboard. Well, I am woefully reporting that it looks like the controls for the PC version of Dead Space have been nerfed to the highest order.
Those who purchased the PS3 version of Bioshock will get a nice surprise in the extras menu. Once unlocked, I imagine by beating the game, you can view the first teaser trailer for Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams. There is not much to discern from the video other then it takes place on the Atlantic coast and the little sisters have gone all Kate Moss on us. Watch the video and see if you can see any hidden clues about the next game. Since it’s a teaser the game must be quite some time from completion. Probably won’t see this thing until around this time next year….but I could be wrong.
October promises to be a very big month for the PS3 with a bevy of potential cross-platform blockbusters, a couple of ports, and some possibly huge exclusive titles. So many of these games look so good that I’m suspecting I won’t be the only one trying to make tough decisions about what games should be bought now and what should be picked up later. That said I’m going to give a fuller rundown than usual and I’ll start out with the platform exclusives on the PS3. That includes the game featuring the guy here who just might end up becoming the console’s mascot. And not to worry PSP fans, this month has a few nice treats coming our way as well, aside from the PSP-3000 refresh of the system itself.

All of you Bioshock fans, the PS3 version has gone gold and will be released on the 21st of October. Considering I have played this game both on the PC and the Xbox 360, I won’t be3 picking it up. However for those who are PS3 only, you’ll be able to download the demo on the 2nd. Presser after the jump.
Stephen, Fourhman and Joe are back for another non-star studded episode of the Aeropodcast, and this time they are talking about the power of the exclusive title, or lack there of as the case may be. The guys look at whether there is still a need of an exclusive, or if they still support a console. Also is the idea of an exclusive more of a fanboy notion than anything else.
Also, we lool at some of the site items for the week, as well as a gem of a review on iTunes. We love this one because it is so 1337. In the news we look at the Xbox price cut, free Red Alert, Take Two and Nintendo’s love fest along with many other items. So enjoy and keep the emails, comments and reviews flowing.

Doctored screenshots are fun. Completely faked ones are even better, as long as they’re not passed off as real.
With that, I’ll suggest you check out this compilation of faux screenshots compiled over at Infendo. In particular, I’m very fond of the shot at left. Not only does it reference somewhat the way Metal Gear looked like in its NES days (it didn’t even look this good, actually), but it sticks a nice pointy thing right in Konami’s famously terrible localization skills. Those skills have really only improved in the past five years, sadly enough.
There’s a nice shot at PS3 launch title Genji as well. The best looking shot is probably the one for Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess as it might look on the original Game Boy, though I can’t help thinking it’s too high resolution for that old fella.

Today, 2K Games announced their release date for Bioshock on the PS3. Gamers on the Playstation 3 will get a chance to delve into the depths of Rapture starting October 21st, 2008. The game will ship with enhanced graphics and apparently new content. Not sure if this is from download or if the content will be significant, but it will be there. Also, 2K Games sent over the above screenshot plus one below the jump, as well as a new website dedicated to the PS3 version of Bioshock, which can be found at http://www.bioshockgame.com/ps3/.
2K community manager made a announcement on the 2K forums:
Good news! As promised, all activation restrictions, including install limits, have been removed from BioShock PC as of today. You don’t have to patch or install anything for this to go into effect for your copy of BioShock – it’s already done!
This is great news indeed. I think maybe 2K is wising up and realizing that DRM only hurts loyal customers. Pirates will break the DRM and torrent it no matter the how big the protection is on it. Thanks 2K!
