Just so you know, this is not in regards to the multiplayer, which I haven't gotten around to yet. I just completed the game last night and feel that I need to blow off some steam. I heard this advice on an episode of 1UP Yours! a long time ago, and I wish I would have followed it: Skip Resistance 2's single player campaign.
Playing through Resistance 2, I could see some definite potential with the single player, but I'm not sure if it's the level design or the pacing of the game that makes it so...horrendous. When your not killing the same enemies over and over again, you're dying. I wanted to pull out my hair the entire way through, but the completionist in me kept me coming back...unfortunately.
My favorite parts of the game were the last three minutes after you kill Daedalus and arm the bomb (I said SPOILERS, didn't I?). Touching Daedalus' dead body apparently super powers Nathan's infection. The last couple of minutes you have to escape the burning Chimeran ship before the bomb explodes, but you don't need weapons anymore. Instead, you can just aim at enemies with your hands, press R1, and they will explode into hundreds of meaty bits. That part was actually really fun; it's too bad they only made that last for two minutes. Finally, I enjoyed the last cutscene where it looks like Hale has become a fully turned (mentally at least) Chimera, and Capelli has to put a bullet through his head.
Three minutes out of eight to ten hours is not a good fun to annoying ratio.
