Is anybody here going to preorder Uncharted 2? I did last week and I was wondering if there was going to be anyone else to play the multiplayer demo with.
Well, I had not considered pre-ordering it. While I liked the first Uncharted, and it was one of the first games I bought when I picked up a PS3, it did not grab me from the beginning. It looked great, and was a great puzzler, but the shooting mechanics left a lot to be desired.
I have not ruled it out as a game to buy, but it is behind some other titles.

I didn't see anything wrong with the shooting mechanics. The only real problems I found were that the enemies didn't die easily, and the twist at the end was kind of, well, total crap.

oh crap, I forgot about the horrible twist two thirds of the way through the game. I think I had tried to purge it from memory. Thanks a lot for bringing it back up.

The three things I hope they learned from the first game:
1) Bullets kill a lot easier than they did in the first Uncharted
2) Six-axis controls SUCK for grenade throwing (I already know they fixed this issue)
3) I don't want a compelling story to be ruined by Spanish zombie monsters

I know that in multiplayer you take less damage before you die, which makes sense, but I didn't notice much of a difference in the co-op part of the beta. And yes, the grenade throwing is so much better.

Yay, the beta started yesterday. I've played it for a few hours now.
Any thoughts so far. I was worried that the multiplayer would take away quite a bit from the main game. I guess we won't know the answer till the game releases, and that is more why I am waiting before I purchase.

First of all for a demo it's really big and really fun. Hanging from a ledge right next to where someone is standing, grabbing his leg, and pulling him down to watch him to fall to his death is immensely satisfing. Just as satisfying as noticing someone is waiting for you to walk to close to the ledge for them to pull you off and kicking them off to their before they can get you.
"Verticality" a huge part of the game. You don't HAVE to climb around on stuff, but it's there and it's very useful.
One thing that has bugged me though, is that when your playing you don't get to choose what maps you play on. It gives you two choices between one map and one game mode and a different combination of the two, but the broad game types are seperated. You won't get the choice between an "Objective" game(CTF, zones) and a death match type game. The only time you get to choose is when setting up a game with your friends. at least in the demo.
The only real big problem I had was that the game wouldn't let me join a friends party. I don't know if I was doing something wrong, but it didn't work. It let me party up with people I had played with last match.
Overall I love it. Something about it is really addictive. if you would like to read a much better better written piece click here http://ps3.ign.com/articles/102/1026373p1.html.If have anymore specific questions I'd be glad to try and answer them.

I think Uncharted 2 might be the last game I buy before my birthday. After pre-ordering Halo 3: ODST, I've got just enough money left to buy one game, that is, until November 8th. I'm still waiting to see how Alpha Protocol and Borderlands turn out, but until then it's definitely between Uncharted 2 and Ratchet & Clank.

Has anyone seen the interview they gave to someone (Machinima's Inside Gaming, I think) where they talked about the facilities they're providing for people who want to make machinima with this game? You can control the characters with no weapons, there's an option to make the background green screen, and the characters will lip-sync with what you say in the headset mic. Pretty cool if you're into that kinda thing.

Traded in GI Joe which I won for free (And it wasn't even worth that) and put down 16.50 towards Uncharted :D

I'm a taker. Unfortunately, I might have to get my PS3 repaired because it's not reading any of my discs, and, like I said before, it won't run the Uncharted 2 demo. Even if my PS3 is gone, though, I'll still have my copy of Uncharted 2 arriving day one.
