Loving The Big Bang Theory

  1. I have to admit that I had ignored this show for quite some time, but I am really enjoying it. I was exposed to it as most might have been, in Gamestops while short clips are playing on the TV.

I really have come to enjoy the first season via Netflix, so I might be putting this into rotation. While it is not gaming centric, it does have some great gaming conventions used. I might even write up a review for it.

  2. Haygood, I'm a big fan of this one. I watch it weekly (at least when it's new), and it keeps getting better and better as they figure out what's actually funny about the characters.

Glad you're on board. I'm far more interested in this one than Lost, so this was a welcome post.

The one they just reran last week, where Penny gets addicted to the MMORPG, is pretty good.

If you enjoyed the first season, then the rest will be like crack to you. I thought the first season was horrible, but the series slowly got awesome as it progressed. Like Tony said, they really focus on what makes the characters funny. That said, I would be happier if the show was just about Penny and Sheldon. Here's why:

Leonard: He's annoying and nobody wants that awkward sexual tension

Howard: We get it, you're Jewish and a perv, the jokes aren't funny anymore.

Raj: When has Raj ever added anything positive to the show? Never.

Raj is the Fez addition to the show. Fez was a little off putting at first in The 70's Show, but came into his own after a couple of seasons. I am getting ready to start catching up on the rest of the seasons. Oh, and my wife cannot stand Leonard. She feels like a basketcase by the end of the show, because of his neurotic, anal-retentive ways. The fact that he has to be so programmed and set in his ways, like when he wants to sit in his spot on the couch, it drove her insane.

I believe you're talking about Sheldon. He's actually my favorite character out of the four guys. I don't think I would bother watching the show without him.

Isn't Sheldon the curly haired nerd, formerly of Roseanne fame?

Sheldon is the short-haired, anal-retentive one. Leonard is the curly-haired, Penny-loving one.

  8. Joe, I think you have to rewatch them and study harder. Start over! Episode one!

I feel they don't really need Raj for much. He's just there to facilitate dialogue, and they keep trying (and failing) to figure out how to best use him.

    Sheldon's the reason to watch.

I'm with Jordo about the Penny/Sheldon thing. They're great when they interact. Like The Simpsons hit its stride when it stopped being about Bart, this show gets better the more it's about Sheldon.

Wait... So we're actually agreeing on something??? Well, this can't be right...

  10. I know, right?

    Weird.

If we joined forces, the universe would surely crumble before our combined might.

    Um...

    ...quick, think of something...

...ah! MICROSUCK 3 SUCKS-ty! Boo, Xbox!

But doesn't that mean that if the Xbox 360 sucks, then the Big Bang Theory sucks, because all of their gaming nights are based around Halo 3 on the 360 or World of Warcraft on the Windows platform.

    Run Away!!!! Universe is imploding!

  12. Nah, the gaming choices of the characters on that show are completely in line with the personalities of people who frequently game on PC's or 360's.

    It's a great send-up.

    :D
