The deal between Microsoft and Netflix that allows us 360 owners to watch select TV shows and movies instantly persuaded me to subscribe to Netflix. I've found a few gems that I consider to be my personal favorites in the watch instantly category. My absolute favorites that I have right now are:

Seasons 1-4 of The Office, which has been one of my favorite TV series since season 2

Seasons 1-3 of 30 Rock. I just started watching it to see what I was missing out on, and surprisingly, I was missing out on a lot. The show is hilarious and will definitely become one of my weekly TV viewings.

What are some of your favorites?

  2. Easy answer
Doctor Who, Season 1, 2 and 3, along with all the episode compilation of the original series.

I second the nomination of 30 Rock. I had not watched that show until Netflix, and now I am hooked.

Painkiller Jane was a great series that showed that Kristina Lokken can actually act.

Cashback was an awesome movie, about the guy that is so sleep deprived, he thinks he can stop time.

Finally, Jericho. I wanted to watch the show, but could not hook up with it. Finally got to watch both seasons via streaming and was so happy with the ending.

My most disappointing had to go to Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD. Man Hasslehoff, why did you have to tarnish your rep with the horrible, abomination of a film. Marvel should be ashamed of this one.

Hey, I'm fairly new the the whole, xbox live world, and have been wondering how the netflix works, do you pay a certain amount per month and get unlimited viewings, or does it work some other way?

As long as you have a Netflix account and Xbox Live Gold account, you don't have to pay for anything extra. In addition to your regular Netflix Queue (which sends DVDs to your house), an Instant Queue will be added to your Xbox 360 (and PC). That means whatever TV shows or movies you add to your Instant Queue, you can watch them instantly on your 360 or PC. The only catch is that not everything is available on the Instant Queue; you won't see any new releases being added to it. However, there are still quite a few goodies like the shows we mentioned. Everyone should be able to find at least one thing they like on there. Even if you can't find anything you like in the Watch Instantly section, you still have a perfectly fine Netflix subscription.

Or you could just ave your money for that PS3 you've always wanted, Trogdor. The PS3 has PlayOn in which you pay and monthly fee and it allows you to set up your computer as a media server so you can watch Hulu and Youtube full screen. I think there's more, but I don't own it.

I'll trade you my 360 for your PS3. You seem like a trustworthy enough person...and hey, I'll give you rock band with it...great deal huh?

  8. Another one to avoid. Art of War II. I loved the first Art of War, with Wesley Snipes as a covert agent working for the UN. It was a lot of fun. The sequel was really bad, with a story that went nowhere, absolutely no talent from the first movie, and an aging Wesley Snipes that looks far older than his age. I watch these things so you don't have to.

  9. Just watched the first two episodes of Airwolf, and man, that series has not aged well. Also, the plot in the two part episode was horrible. Anyway, I seemed like such a better show as a child. I also watched me some Buck Rogers in the 25th Century....mmmmmmm....me likes me some Erin Grey.

  10. I've been reliving some of my fondest childhood memories rewatching "Amazing Stories". Kind of an "Outer Limits"/"Twilight Zone" from the mid-80's by Steven Spielberg. Not all the episodes are "amazing" but there are enough good stories in the series that it is well worth the watch. A perfect night-cap bedtime story after a long day of gaming.

Same here. I added Airwolf, Knight Rider and Buck Rogers to my queue, and it is funny to watch these shows now, as they do not hold up to the test of time. Well, except for Buck Rogers, because we have Erin Gray in her prime, wearing a tight white jumpsuit. Mmmmmmm, jumpsuit.

Eh... I watched some of the episodes of The Office (UK) and they didn't capture the funniness (IMO) of the United States version. I'm sure people from the UK would disagree with me here, but I guess preference is all about origins.

P.S. I added seasons 1-9 of South Park to my Instant Queue, but I haven't got a chance to watch them yet.

English humor is a matter of taste. People either find it funny or stupid. There is no middle ground. I love English humor, but I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I lived there for several years. The Goodies, Monty Python and Dr. Who for the Win!

That could have more to do with the familiarity with Ricky Gervais. It is kind of like John Cleese or Eric Idle. They are familiar faces to audiences in the US that they are normally understood and appreciated.

  18. I watched a movie called Stiletto on Instant Queue last night and it was excruciatingly bad. I had to wash the horror from my eyes with my DVD version of Taken. Now that, is a bad ass movie.

You got that straight! I will find you, and I will kill you. Liam Neeson is a good actor with a cool voice, but his voice never changes when he acts. That was a heckuva good action flick.

I just love that point where he finally finds the guy from the phone and states, that they talked two days ago, and I promised I would kill you when I found you. So much awesomeness.

Also, I have been watching another British series while I patiently wait for Torchwood to get the Instant Queue treatment, and that series is Jeckyll. Solid modern adaptation of the old Dr. Jeckyll and Mister Hyde story. Check it out if you get the chance.
