Election 2008 Shop Talk

  1. So how did everyone fare on this fine election Tuesday. I am pretty happy. I voted for Obama (as did most of California), and my No on 8 vote may work out after early signs pointed to it passing.

Anyone else have any good or bad stories to tell about their election day. I was lucky enough to have a polling place across the street from my house, and the lines were not too long. I had the option of a paper ballot or an electronic voting machine, so I opted for Electronic voting. It took a little longer, but it just seems to be a better bet than a paper ballot.

I think my House Rep, Ken Calvert won. I was upset about that, because I was still pissed at the fact he voted for the Bank Bailout. He automatically lost my vote the day he voted yes on the bailout bill.

I'll be able to vote in the next election, so my opinions contributed nothing to this term's competition. However, if I could vote, McCain would have received my vote. My base morals and beliefs align better with his, and, although most politicians display this in some fashion, Obama seems like an illusionist to me. In regards to the Vice President candidates, I was bewildered by McCain's pick of Sarah Palin. I don't have anything against her, but I don't believe she has enough experience to potentially run this country; these thoughts carry over for Obama as well. As for Joe Biden, I haven't exactly followed or read up on him. I'm not happy with the outcome of this election, but I hope the best for this country.

I'm sorry, but there is no way I could be in favor of same-sex marriages. I don't hate homosexuals; I hate homosexuality. I believe marriage should only take place between a man and a woman, and doing otherwise is just unnatural, in my opinion.

I know this is a landmine of an issue, but I just don't get the hate for this issue. Who cares who someone marries. If they are happy, so be it. I mean look at Commander Sulu. He married his lover of 25 years. That is 80% longer than most marriages last in this country between a man and a woman.

I do get that some people feel it is an unnatural act, but believe me when I say that once you watch enough girl on girl porn, you get used to the idea.

As unnatural as it seems, I guess they should have the right. I doubt I'd ever be able to consider it as a legitimate union of husband and wife, though.
