Its not like the cheaper cables are going to reverse the bytes of data on you. For some the name is important, and here's to them helping the economy. As for me, I bought some optical sound cables (TOSLink) a few years ago, and went with the house brand at Best Buy. It's a 1 or a 0. It either works or it doesn't. There have been many tests by Gizmodo on the different cables and the result was this:</p> <p>Unless you're going an EXTREMELY LONG distance, the cable makes no difference.</p> <p>EXTREMELY LONG being something on the order of ten's of feet. IIRC, I think they were testing 30ft or 60ft cables, and what they found was that the most expensive cables were better, but marginally and still not really worth the extra cost.</p> <p>If you're going to buy a HDMI cable just get the 'cheap' one. However, like most of you already know, the PS3 only comes with composite cables.
