Two others from the PC realm: King's Quest, Police Quest.

Absolutely Police Quest. Started off as an adventure game, became an RTS game with SWAT 2, finally settling on FPS with SWAT 3 and up.

You could also use Halo, which started its lifespan as an RTS, turned into an FPS, but now returning to its roots as an RTS with Halo Wars.

Well there's those of us who are hoping it won't deter from the authentic Sonic play mechanism.

Easy, Sonic. He went from simple, fast side scrolling arcade game, to adventuring cliff falling, human kissing gaming hell. And it is only getting worse with the upcoming Were-Hog with stretchy arms in the new Sonic game.

Hey guys, I'm writing a feature post about what game franchises has change the most over the years. For example the Rainbow Six Vegas we play now was nothing like the original Rainbow Six. The once tactical one shot kill Rainbow Six is now a arcadey hollywood shooter. Any other ideas?
