Anyone else pay 500 points for the Wii's Internet Channel...and, get a free NES game from Nintendo to make up for it now that the channel's available at no charge?

If so, what game did you select to cash in your One Free Title? (You have until 12/31.)

I went w/ Startropics. I'd never played it, and my wife actually pushed me to select it. No regrets, so far: My blog post on this download and my rationale.

It'd be great to see how Nintendo would reimagine this series, today

Anyway, let me know if you downloaded something from the Virtual Console with the Internet Channel to thank.

It took me 11 hours on "easy" lol. Yeah I know lame. Decent game but I found it to just draaaag on near the end - "oh we found the secret passage with the special stone, get that switch!", "oh no more bad guys!" etc.

I think I bought the 1 shot kill upgrade after it was done so I'll play it again on a harder setting next time round :)

I've wanted to take part in this little Pepsi Rock Band scam ever since Fourhman started talking about the fool-proof method of obtaining Rock Band songs or Wii Points. I'm a Dr. Pepper kind of guy, so I haven't really had the opportunity to redeem any codes...until tonight.

My brother was about to throw away a Pepsi bottle, so I snatched it and quickly redeemed the code. I thought about what I wanted to spend it on (either a Rock Band Track for 360 or Wii Points). I tried multiple times to choose a Wii Rock Band Track (for the points, of course), but it wouldn't work. Eventually, I just had to go with the 360 Track. Has anyone else had trouble with getting a Wii code? I guess that's just another reason why the Wii is inferior to the Xbox 360...

A few days ago, I sent a message to beloved Aeropause staff member Joseph Haygood over Xbox Live. Since we both love the game Mass Effect, and have both been playing a ton of it recently, I asked him if we should race to see who could get all the achievement points in Mass Effect first. His replied boldly, saying "sure." Even though he most likely does not care and was just trying to get rid of me, I will not back down. Trust me folks, I know who I'm up against. This is Joe "Monsters vs. Aliens" Haygood. He is one of the biggest achievement whores I know and he's currently ahead of me in achievement points for Mass Effect. Joe has 38/46 achievements with a score of 875, compared to my lowly 31/46 with a score of 735. I know you're all counting me out, but wait, if you call right now I'll throw in the reason I might still have a chance in this race for FREE. Two of the achievements are for beating the game on the Hardcore and Insanity difficulty modes. You have to beat Hardcore to unlock Insanity. I'm almost done with my play through on Insanity mode. Joe is still working on his Hardcore play through. May the biggest Mass Effect nerd win!

PS: Fourhman, Stephen, and all the other Microsoft haters, feel free to insult us on our love of Mass Effect.

Yes, this will sound stupid, but I am thinking of picking up the special edition box set for Rock Band 2. Yes, I own the game already, but I am thinking about the idea of having the wireless instruments. Having a set of wireless drums and a wireless guitar would be rather awesome. Mix in Lips wireless mic support that should be coming shortly to Rock Band 2 and I could have a wire free music experience.

Right now the cost is $89.99 at Target, and I was thinking of giving my old instruments to a friend along with my copy of Rock Band 2. I can even give him my new manual so he can get the downloadable songs.

Crazy or sane idea?

Am I the only one that is floored by this number. To think that a title that did not have a lot going for it, and major competition from the Guitar Hero franchise, they are dominating the fans expectations. Seriously, 1000 songs for the Rock Band library by year end, along with getting bands that have been hard to get like Tom Petty, Queen, and many others. Is anyone else impressed by this?

I love the visuals and the stories, but the battle system is just killing me. Some of the people I am battling give me no feedback as to what will effect them. And I am all for fantasy creations, but there is no way that a book should be able to throw 600-700 points of damage at me. It is a freaking book!

In brief, I can say that I am happy I only spent $20, because this is a game that can be beat in one afternoon, a la Terminator: Salvation. However, it does not give you all the achievements up front like that one.

Well, me an the ever present Jordan Snyder tried out the Netflix Party system, and I would have to say that it was a middling affair. We watched two episodes of Lost, Season 3, including an episode with Bai Ling in it, and the other one was called Tricia Tanaka is Dead.

The episodes were in good quality, but the party system was taking a big dump last night. Jordan would continuously drop from my party. I know it was not a connection issue, because visually, the video was crisp and clear in HD. It could have just been issues with the Preview Program. I will give it a proper rundown in an article later.

Well, I finally got into the preview program after a few days of waiting, and I am mixed. A chunk of the features are not their yet, like Twitter, Facebook and Games on Demand. I did try out the new Netflix stuff, and that was neat, but not as full featured as we thought it would be.

I did like the fact that everything seems to be popping up a lot quicker. There are avatar costumes now, and unlockable rewards in the form of avatar costumes, but nothing was there yet. So far, there are Halo, Fable 2 and Tales of Monkey Island costumes, but I am not buying them. It is no different than my policy on Home costumes. Just say NO!

I will have some deeper thoughts on this week's podcast

Okay, this has Windows Vista written all over it. The tiled window effect for switching between blades, down to the media sharing. Throw in a dash of Nintendo, with the whole Miivatars, and I have to say that I am not happy. While I felt the blade concept needed an update, I don't feel that I needed a drastic update like this, and I don't really care about the whole dress up doll aspect of the Avatars. I plan to go the Shaun Elliot route and make some grotesque avatar to represent me. Should be great for meeting people.

Upstairs I've got my 360 hooked up to an ordinary SDTV (lame), but my PS3 on the other hand is paired up with a 30-something inch, 720p, LCD TV (not the greatest, but I make do with what I have). However, like most of you already know, the PS3 only comes with composite cables. That said, I was wondering if any old HDMI cable that I buy off of Amazon would work and if there is anything worse about the cheaper cables like this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002L5R78/ref=s9_subs_c2_s1_p23_t1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1KB22V73BMRCKV94E8A1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463383371&pf_rd_i=507846

as compared to more expensive cables *ahem* like this:

So, after much debate, I moved Damnation to the top of my gamefly queue, and almost immediately, it was shipped out to me, like they were surprised someone would want this hunk of shit that Blue Omega calls a game.

But that said, I felt it was in my best interest to try the game for myself. Will I be able to finish it, or will this game break me? Anyone else here play Damnation yet. Anyone want to play along with me in co-op? Please?
