Earlier this year, we had a little ARG game that resulted in a single screenshot featuring the familiar barcode of the Hitman franchise. It became widely speculated that a fifth title in the Hitman franchise was going to be announced, but it has been a bit quiet.
Well, Square Enix has let the cat out the bag as Hitman: Absolution is now an official title. The game is set to follow everyone’s favorite hair-challenged assassin, Agent 47, as he has become involved in a dark and twisted conspiracy. No doubt, resolving the issue will require our resourceful agent to devise creative means as to take down targets as he tries to solve the mystery at hand.
Hitman: Absolution will be developed by series creator IO Interactive and will be published by Square Enix. The game will also feature graphics created by the proprietary Glacier 2 engine. Look for more from Hitman: Absolution at E3 2011 this year.
