505 Games Announces Dawn of Fantasy
MMORTS is a genre that I have never really seen take off in the gaming arena. Sure I have seen a few of them at trade shows over the years, but none of them have ever actually hit the marketplace as of yet. This has not discouraged 505 Games from taking their shot at the genre with the announcement of their newest title, Dawn of Fantasy.
Dawn of Fantasy is a set in a world of magic and ancient lore, where you will set up fortresses that you will defend against sieges, while setting up armies to siege other fortresses. Sounds like standard-fare RTS gaming, similar to the Total War series, but they are looking to build this in a persistent world MMO fashion, where you cities and fortresses will live on regardless of your participation in the world.
There will be a single player mode where you do the same battles and sieges in your own world, but the World Mode is where the meat of the game lies, forming alliances, guilds and planning sieges against or with other players.
No dates or platforms have been announced, but something tells me that this will probably be a PC only release, due to the hardcore nature of the title. Check the jump for more screens from Dawn of Fantasy.
