Two Worlds II Developer Diary I – Crafting and Alchemy

Submitted by on January 17, 2011 – 2:02 pmNo Comment

Two Worlds II is fast approaching its January 25th release date on consoles and PC and now we have a new developer diary that shows off two of the new critical changes to the systems that we were introduced to in the first Two Worlds game – Crafting and Alchemy.

The crafting system takes what we love about RPG titles, taking armor and weapons that we like to use due to their look, and build upon them with new components.  So if you find a powerful sword that has a lot of perks, but looks rather crappy, you can break it down into its components and add those to your current weapon.

The alchemy system works the same as well, with individual components allowing you to create spells with all kinds of effects.  Want a fireball that reigns down rocks as well – go for it.  The developers have calculated out a million different combinations that you can use to make up spells that work to your play style.

So far, it looks like Two Worlds II is putting together a lot of playing systems that let you be as in-depth, or as hands off as your style of play requires.  Don’t want to build spells – no worries as plenty of pre-combined spells will be available.  Same thing goes for weapons.  Will it all work out as planned?  We will know for certain in a couple of weeks when Two Worlds II releases for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 from South Peak, Reality Pump and Topware.

Hit the jump for the full developer diary.
