X-Tatic SX Headset

I just got the opportunity of using the X-Tatic SX Headset brought to us by Sharkoon for the Xbox 360 and PC and I am very pleased with what I got. Out of the box you have the set itself, manual, and a lot of cables and plugs. At first I thought it would be overwhelming, but once everything was out it was about 5 – 7 minutes of set up time. It is very sturdy and pleasant to the eye. It looks cool when out of the box doesn’t look like a cheap headset from the 99 cent store.

Body

The headset speakers can be moved to accommodate a massive head like mine down to a shrunken skull of that of a 9 year old. Color and design makes it look like it should have originally come with the Xbox 360 Elite bundle. The X-Tatic SX is compatible with the Xbox 360 and your PC, which makes it a very valuable multi-system headset. No need in having to buy 2 headsets when you have a great set up that can be switched between the Xbox and the PC by disconnecting a few cables. In the past I have had problems with smaller head sets where the speakers would press against my ears eventually becoming uncomfortable these massive speakers fit snugly around your ears which make it a hell of a lot better during raids or passing out at your computer desk.

Sound

Sound quality of this headset is really good for being a stereo headset. I first used it with Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the Xbox 360, it blasted out the gun fire, footsteps, choppers overhead, and tanks rolling in, really well through the 40mm speakers. Following BFBC 2, I turned to my computer and played from Trance to Metal, it sounded clear and crisp. You have a volume control unit right off your headset that sets the volume of the mic and the speakers. I was heard loud and clear through the adjustable and removable mic that moves to what ever position that you want it to and stays put without having to re adjust every outburst. The volume itself isn’t as loud as I want it to get, but that’s more of a personal problem, I’m near def (thanks Iron Maiden).

Rap-up

My real problem with this headset is the amount of wires that are hanging off my head. You have a wire that goes to the volume control unit and then another going from the control unit to the 360 controller then down to the TV. When you get to your TV you have to (if you use analog cords) replace the red and white with additional cords provided and hook it to the stereo jack that goes back to the controller and plug in the unit to a USB on your Xbox. But once everything is in order you really have yourself a good headset that sounds great, looks great and works with both your Xbox 360 and PC. When looking for a gaming headset quality is always a must over price. The X-Tatic SX gaming headset will run you between 48 to 60 bucks depending where you pick it up from. I do very much so recommend this headset if you’re on a budget, 50 bucks maybe a little steep but your getting 2 headsets for the price of one. Check out Sharkoon’s website to find your nearest dealer.
