For starters, Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded will be released on 01/11/11, which is a pretty damn cool date.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for DS was a complete borefest, a tedious swamp of repetitive quests and fruitless hub world conversations. And not enough Disney. Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded for DS is a gussied-up release of – wait for it – Kingdom Hearts Coded, an episodic action-puzzle mobile phone game released in Japan. “Episodic action-puzzle mobile phone game”? And we’re looking forward to this on DS for $35 why?

Because Square Enix had to do some substantial work to turn Coded into Re:Coded, including re-creating much of the original game to match the resolution of the DS. The battle system has also been changed from the mobile version, described as an amalgam of Coded, 358/2 Days and the recent PSP release, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.

While I have no idea what that means, I’ll hope that equates to “good.” For my part, I’m very weary of these little Kingdom Hearts Off-Road Adventures for the handhelds, and I wish they’d hurry up and get the core series back up and running. Press info for Re:Coded follows.
