So What the Hell Happened to Dante

Okay, so without actually having the PR material from Capcom for this one, how would one actually know that this was a Devil May Cry game?  I mean, gone is the Dante that we have come to know and love and in his place is a Drake Bell emo wannabe.  I mean, don’t get me wrong, the action is fast and frantic, and there is a mix of melee and gun combat, but it just looks different from anything I have seen with the Devil May Cry series.

Now, my understanding is that this is a relaunch of the franchise, to the point where Capcom is not even calling it Devil May Cry, instead going for the hip initials of DMC.  It is only just being announced at this point in time, so I will keep an open mind, but I have to admit that it was definitely a state of shock at the end of the trailer.

    I despise the new look of Dante. Really, the only thing wrong with the DMC franchise was the story, in my opinion. Dante was good, the other characters were good, all the trappings for a nice gothic adventure were there. Just have to go relink a sweeping story to someone tampering with demon magic, trying to bring back Sparda, maybe a prequel here or there.

    None of this reboot stuff, come on. Blech.
