Second opinion: Mega Man Universe is Powered Up on a grander scale… A-
Fourhman’s made it clear he’s not excited about it, but I certainly am.
The first trailer for Mega Man Universe gave us no idea what kind of game it would be. This new video from Capcom has creator Keiji Inafune introducing some actual gameplay footage, which satisfies most of the questions the first video raised. Mega Man Universe is apparently a sidescroller in classic Mega fashion where you can select from at least five characters, including Mega Man, Rockman (a chubbier, chibier version of Mega Man), and the infamous “bad box art Mega Man” from the cover of the original NES game. The game looks like an HD version (it’s coming to PS3 and 360, so I’m assuming) of the great PSP game Mega Man Powered Up, except these levels are all new. Still, the music sounds like classic Mega Man tunes, and the Cutman weapon is shown, so maybe these are just remixed levels. Time will tell. But why the hell did they include a loading screen in a video of the game?
Three other trailers were provided with this one, but they’re just each committed to one of the three characters. Ryu from Street Fighter is teased at the end of one of the trailers as well, and Arthur from Ghouls N Ghosts was in that earlier teaser. Check out the images we were provided as well below, which include screenshots and character art.
