Hell Freezes Over, Pigs Fly, and Duke Nukem Forever is Coming Out
When 3D Realms crashed and burned earlier this year, it seemed like a good bet that the longest running joke in gaming history had come to an end. Duke Nukem Forever would finally meet up with its DNF initials (did not finish). Besides, most figured the character concept had become a caricature of itself over the last 14 years, no longer sitting as a funny joke.
But, when a company like 2K Games sinks a decent amount of change into your product, they tend to want to get something from their investment, so it was announced at PAX Prime today that Duke Nukem Forever would be coming out in 2011, and that famed developer Gearbox Studios would finish the task that started in a small development studio back in 1998. Yes, you read that right, three different men have been president since this game started development.
All we have right now is the above character shot, but it appeared as if the game was actually in a playable state on the PAX show floor and that Randy Pitchford mentioned that the game was pretty much done and that they were just putting polish on the title at this point.
So, are you interested in playing this title, and if so, do you think it can live up to 12 years of built up hype? Let us know below, or in the forums.
