If the news of paying 80 cents more a month for XBL is still making you mad (if it does seek mental help) then there is some good news. Microsoft is offering a full year of XBL for 39.95. All you need to do is go here and sign-up to renew at the lower price before the $60 price tag kicks in November 1st. The offer is only good for 1 year of service, but if you do the math it basically saves you the new XBL price for two years.

The only bad thing is that their servers seem to be exploding with people taking them up on this offer. I tried to sign-up myself but kept getting timed out. Once the servers cool down make sure to head there and save a little dough. You could also buy a cheap XBL subscription here as well.

Eh, it's largely just an inflationary hike. From what I hear, you guys find plenty of ways to not pay full price anyway, so it doesn't strike me as a big deal.

Of course, there's almost no way to spin a price hike without people flaring up.

Its amazing the amount of idiots complaining about this, I think a lot of them are probably PS3 people who complain at a drop of a hat. I would pay even more for XBL. I own both consoles and while free is nice on PSN, the overall EXP is so much better on Xbox I don't mind paying as long as they keep it up.

Funny thing is that this fall, they will be offering a family Gold pack fo $99, which will entitle one console to have four gold accounts. For me, that is a far better deal. It hooks up my wife and myself, and allows my son to have a gold account, because the family pack comes with account management tools for younger gold members.

As for the $10 price increase, I was a bit surprised to see it go up, as most people figured it would go down in price. However, I do not know many people that ever pay full price for a gold subscription. Normally, people tend to pick these up when they go on sale at Amazon or your local retail store.

i just think that it is ludichris that the psn is free and yet microsoft can't let us have it free. I mean Micorsoft is a great gaming console but we talk so bad about japan, but at least they can give ppl the networking for free, so why can't bill gates find it in his heart to lower the price instead of being so dang money hungry.
