Half-hour Red Dead Redemption film now available on PS3 and 360
Remember that “short film” on Red Dead Redemption that FOX ran as a late night special? The half-hour video just arrived on both the PlayStation Store and XBOX Live Marketplace this week – for free – and is certainly viewable at a much nicer quality than the YouTube video version I’m embedding after the jump.
The film was created with the cutscenes from the game’s first act – John Marston’s hunt for Bill Williamson – with the addition of some shots for dramatic flair. Think: lots of slow environmental pans. You can consider this thirty minutes of spoiler material, although it’s certainly nothing so unexpected that you’d be pissed by knowing it ahead of time. It’s kind of a heist piece, as Marston recruits the people he needs to seige Williamson’s hideout. Those of you who played the game will note some severe changes at the end, as several separate missions (indeed, from completely different locations) are pieced together to try to form a suitable ending to the film’s story.
