We’ve had a massively entertaining first half to 2010. Think back to some of the titles released over the last six months – Bioshock 2, Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2 to name but a few – and you’ll realise why 2010 has kind of kicked ass so far.
And to stop those OMG THAT GAME SUCKS NO IT DOESN’T YES IT DOES EVERYONE KNOWS THAT DDR IS THE BEST arguments spilling over, Metacritic – the site that aggregates the review scores for major outlets and sites – have selflessly published a summary of the first half of 2010, detailing what games have consistently had the highest review scores, including breakdowns by platform performance, too.
The verdict? Mass Effect 2 comes in in pole, with new boy Red Dead Redemption already taking second place. Bayonetta and Bioshock 2 take fourth and fifth places respectively, with shock entry Super Street Fighter IV taking the bronze. Well. It’s a shock entry for me, anyway.
Do I agree with the critics? Hmm. Dunno – although that’s possibly only because whilst I own all of the top five bar one (yes, Street Fighter), they’re mostly sitting unfinished on my shelf (yes, I’m a serial non-finisher). How about you? What do you think?
