Atari Makes Old, New Again with Haunted House Sequel
I vaguely remember Haunted House on the Atari 2600 back in the day. It was a simple affair, where you ran around a maze of rooms, and battled ghosts, spiders and other rough digital looking creations. As with most games of the era, it was limited in scope, and exceptionally difficult to master.
Well, Atari is revisiting that old classic with a sequel, creatively entitled, Haunted House. You return to Spirit Bay to visit the old Graves Mansion due to a letter that you have received, apparently to follow in your grandfather’s footsteps of finding a magical urn. Seriously? There was that much backstory for the first Haunted House? Anyway, the game looks very similar to Grabbed By the Ghoulies, the Rare title from the original Xbox. It uses that same graphical style and combat, but hopefully it is a better game.
Haunted House is set for release in September 2010 on WiiWare, Xbox Live Arcade and PC storefronts. Check the jump for a trailer for Haunted House, to get more of a feel as to what the game will look and play like.
