New Bundle Incentives, Greatest Hits Come to PSP Platform
Looking to bolster the sales of the PSP Go and the PSP-3000 units, Sony has put together some new incentives to help move units into consumer hands. Some are traditional price cuts, while others are new marketing moves that hope to stimulate sales of the lagging PSP Go unit.
The first of these moves are the cutting of certain titles down to $9.99 in price. Titles like Buzz Master Quiz, Loco Roco 2, Patapon 2 and several others have been dropped 50% from their prior price point in effort to help with sales of PSP units overall. The same goes for many older titles being brought to the Greatest Hits line, which also brings a new $19.99 price tag. Some of these titles include Gran Turismo and Little Big Planet PSP.
As for the PSP Go, there is an effort to mobilize sales of that platform by offering free games with a purchase of the hardware. If you buy a PSP Go from June 1st, 2010 to March 31st, 2011, you will get a digital media pack free of charge which will include Little Big Planet PSP, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3. All of these titles came highly rated at release and are quality titles to have right out of the box for your portable gaming unit.
It will be interesting to see if any of these maneuvers will motivate the buying public to go and grab a PSP or a PSP Go, but I give it to Sony for trying to make the platform far more appealing. Check the break for a full presser.
