Buying something on the rich and varied EVE Online market is a multi-step process epitomized by the Market window which is studded with options. Finding the item by name is easy and you can sort the results by price, quantity for sale, the number of jumps away from you it is, even the name of the station it’s offered at. You don’t need to fly somewhere to buy something there – remote buying is allowed by every character in the game, but this isn’t ecommerce. You’ve got to go and get it yourself. This makes deciding exactly where you buy it from a crucial decision. How many jumps away is the item you want, and is the trip there safe enough for your taste? Fortunately, you can take your time. Storage on every station is rent-free, so whatever you buy will sit patiently off in the distance until you make it out there.

This weekend I bought two new ships, the components to run them, and sprung for insurance to cover them should I get caught between a rock and a hard place. That ate up about a third of my 30+ million ISK savings. Collecting the new hulls and the modules to equip on them took a good couple of hours. That included using my Sigil (shown here) to double back and pick up the starter ship I use like a shuttle to fly around and pick up smaller items from the surrounding systems.

What did you spend time playing this weekend?

I finished my review for Lost Planet 2 and played a lot of Plants vs Zombies after that.
