First Thirty: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (PS3)

My review copy of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands has arrived, and I’m already a couple of hours into the game. Let me begin by saying that I absolutely loved the 2008 Prince of Persia game, unlike most people, and I began this game very disappointed that they decided to go back to last generation’s Sands prince. That’s not saying I didn’t like Sands of Time. I blasted through Sands of Time on Gamecube and loved it as well, but I really enjoyed the continuous open-world POP they did last time around, I loved the acrobatic controls, the combat, all of it was great.
Naturally, there are things I miss, like the Elika mechanic. Sure, backing up time again after all these years is a trip, but I don’t like being limited on my use of that. It kept POP fun for me to not have to worry about dying. Of course, that’s what so many people who were louder than me last time around hated. And I guess more of them didn’t buy the game than did, so here we are.
That said, Forgotten Sands is a great looking game, and the music is very nice as well. I’m still getting comfortable with the combat, and I’m not really enjoying the voice work. Of course, I’m very early on yet, and the game will probably grow on me. See you at the review.
