Split Second Developer Diary #2 – Power Plays
With the second developer diary for Split Second, we get a close up look at the “Power Plays” system that is a critical component of this arcade racer. Power Plays are course events that you, as the player, can trigger to cause mayhem and destruction upon the race track. You might be traveling under a freeway, when you trigger a power play, and the freeway behind you might collapse, taking out some of your opponents. Triggering a Power Play, requires filling up your power meter, which can be done by pulling off stunts, drifts or even just passing other players on the track.
So far, I have nothing but good things to say about this title. I heaped all kinds of praise on it when I saw it at E3 last year, and everything that has been shown so far just has it as a fun arcade racer, with tracks that change with each ensuing lap due to the Power Play events. Split Second hits shelves on May 18th, 2010 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, and is brought to you by Disney Interactive Studios and Black Rock Studios. Check the jump for the full developer diary.
