Ones to Watch: PC Releases for April 2010

Submitted by on April 5, 2010 – 11:34 amNo Comment

This month in PC releases, we have a rather short stack of titles to work with.  As a matter of fact, we have a total of two titles for us to recommend this month.  At first I would complain, but considering we came off of a 5-6 game month in March, it might be warranted so gamers can get caught up a bit.

Our PC case mod this week will appeal to the Pixar fan in people, as someone has decided to put their computer in a recreation of Wall-E, the little robot from the movie of the same name.  If you would like to see more on this case mod, head over to Walyou.com.

Also, do not forget to check out our other Ones to Watch articles for the PS3/PSP, Wii/DS and Xbox 360.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City – After a year of waiting, the two DLC packs for GTA IV have finally made their way to the the PC version of the game.  This package can be bought has a boxed retail edition, which will allow you to play both The Lost and the Damned or The Ballad of Gay Tony without owning a copy of GTA IV.  You can also pick up the packages separately as downloads for your existing copy of GTA IV.  My only issue with this release is that it comes so long after the release of Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC.  I am not sure that the DLC even has relevance, and if the pricing will be in line for a release that is a year old.  Look for Episodes from Liberty City on April 13th, 2010.

Splinter Cell: Conviction – Dropping on the PC a few weeks after the console release, Splinter Cell: Conviction finished a rather arduous journey for this latest Splinter Cell release.  This time around, we get a Sam Fisher that is pissed off at the world, and wants to extract revenge against the Third Echelon.  It appers they are behind the killing of his daughter, and it has made Sam snap.  Top quality visuals, and a new combat style that allows for close up melee combat, adds flavor to the standard Splinter Cell gameplay.  DRM issues may cloud the future of this title, as it will use the most recent Ubisoft “be connected to the Internet at all times”  system.  That said, if your Internet connection is rock solid, you will definitely enjoy this title.  Splinter Cell: Conviction hits shelves on April 27th, 2010.

So that pretty much wraps it up for the PC.  Yep, a whopping two titles.  There is new paid DLC coming to the PC version of Mass Effect 2 on April 6th, but other than that, the month of April is rather dry for PC releases.  If you disagree or have a title that we missed, hit us up in the forums or comment below.  See you back here in a month.
