Civilization V To Get New Extreme Diplomacy Mode of Gameplay

Submitted by on April 1, 2010 – 12:52 pmOne Comment

For some, the game of Civilization can be a bit on the dry side when it comes to gameplay.  Well, not anymore, as 2K Games has thrown down the gauntlet with a new “Extreme Diplomacy” win condition.  Imagine at anytime in the Civilization V game, taking George Washington to battle with Odo Nobunaga and getting to unleash the “Uncle Slam Attack”.  Or retalitating with “Tsunami Train Attack.

Even better are the plans for an Uber Edition that includes an 8-way fighting stick to make pulling off the combos even easier.  No pricing yet, but 2K Games says to stay tuned.  Read for more info.

Yes I know this is fake, but I found it highly amusing.  And yes, I would totally play this game mode whenever possible in a Civilization game.    2K Games went all out with this one, creating a screenshot as well as several other battle moves as stated below.

2K Games Announces New Extreme Diplomacy Game Mode for Sid Meier’s Civilization® V

New combat mode enables world leaders to face off in a death match

April 1, 2010 – 2K Games announced today a new game mode in Sid Meier’s Civilization® V, the upcoming turn-based strategy game from Firaxis Games. Should normal diplomacy or military might fail to resolve conflicts between empires, Extreme Diplomacy would allow two world leaders to enter a death match and fight to the finish, using special attacks and finishing moves. Two world leaders enter; one world leader leaves. The victor will obtain complete control of the challenger’s world empire.

An Uber Edition of Sid Meier’s Civilization V will include an optional eight-button joystick to bring the classic fighting arcade game feel to these Extreme Diplomacy battles. Additionally, each world leader will have unique special attacks and finishing moves, including:

· George Washington’s Uncle Slam Attack

· Oda Nobunaga’s Tsunami Train Attack

· Otto von Bismarck’s Hurricane Helmet Spike Attack

· Ramesses II’s Phalanx of the Leopard Army

· Montezuma’s Revenge of the Aztec Army

· Napoleon’s Complex Military Strike

In addition to the introduction of hexagon tiles allowing for deeper strategy, more realistic gameplay and stunning organic landscapes for players to explore as they expand their empire, Extreme Diplomacy gives Sid Meier’s Civilization V players yet another way to take over empires and conquer the world.
