Man, what a sad look at Joust on NES! First, the manual is reported to be screwed up, suggesting the game has Smart Bombs. Nope, you just get flapping bird wings, you delicate flower. Also, no continue code and no extra men! This is gaming the old fashioned way, not like that overblown trust fund baby Defender game!

Stephen found this gem of a book. It was published by Microsoft Press. Now you know why Joust was such a big deal on XBLA.
