Arkham Asylum Tops 2010 BAFTA Video Game Awards
Batman: Arkham Asylum has swept the top award at last night’s UK 2010 Video Game BAFTA awards.
Developed by British team EIDOS, B:AA beat off stiff competition from Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2 to grab the Best Game title. It also picked up the award for Best Gameplay.
The acclaimed BAFTAs are the “leading independent charity in the UK supporting, developing and promoting the art forms of the moving image” and it is industry representatives themselves who put forward and shortlist the nominees.
Arguably the success of the night was Uncharted 2, which picked up four awards in total, including Best Action, Best Story and Character, Best Audio and Best Score. Assassin’s Creed II didn’t fare so well; despite seven nominations, it left empty-handed … um, figuratively speaking, of course. The award-winning and best-selling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 also surprised us by leaving with only the GAME’s Award of 2009 award, as voted by the public.
