Split/Second Gets A Release Date, Lots of Screens
I am a little behind on this one, but Disney Interactive Studios sent over some new screenshots from their upcoming racer, Split/Second. I had the chance to see this title at E3 last year, and I felt that the game was one of the big surprise of the show. The game was in an pre-alpha state and still looked amazing. The only things we did not know about the arcade racer at this point was its release date, and the story that set up the racing in the game. Now we have both of these.
Split/Second is set to drop on PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 on May 18th, 2010. The game set you in the midst of a fictional reality television show, where the name of the game is to cause mayhem and destruction to the track, as well as the contestants. As you race through the tracks, you can deform them, changing the structure with each lap. It played well, and was a whole lot of fun at E3. It was one of the reasons that I felt that Activision pulled Blur from the release schedule for a year, because it paled in comparison to this title that was in pre-alpha development.
Check the jump for more screenshots from two of the race tracks, the Docks and Downtown.
