Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

People Still Want The Machine The PS2 Killed?

Submitted by on February 9, 2010 – 7:25 pm8 Comments

While wandering through DealNews yesterday I noticed something really odd. A vendor at Amazon was selling brand new Sega Dreamcasts for 89 bucks. Really? There’s enough demand for this old relic of generations past that they can sell them for just ten bucks shy of a brand new PS2?

Today the sale is over, and the price has bumped back up to over $100. But still it has left me scratching my head for two reasons. One, that people would want to buy it and two, that there are enough brand new ones kicking around to be sold.

Do any of you have any use for a Dreamcast these days? Let me know in the comments below.

You can check out the DealNews listing or the Amazon page.

I have mine hooked up to emulate NES and SNES games, play Jet Set Radio and Wind-Water Puzzle Battle and other new releases. It's a pretty handy little machine that died a premature death.

I don't currently have mine hooked up, but I gave it considerable thought a few weeks ago. I love it. The only thing that would have been better with the Dreamcast……..an additional analog stick.

I got one from Thinkgeek last year brand new as well. I use it as a dedicated Ikaruga and Mame cabinet.

    LOVE IT!

    How is that possible?

It can be pretty complicated to do, but there are several repositories of freeware and emulation software for the Dreamcast. A little searching around should yield results, but http://dcemulation.org/ is a good place to start.

  • I still have my Dreamcast. Loved that system. Its dead really sucked, because there was actual creative stuff happening, there.

    Seaman!

    SEAMAN!

I'm going to play Power Stone. Later.

There is a thriving Dreamcast community due to its ease of development and lax security functionality. In fact, even official Dreamcast games continued to trickle out of Japan for years after the system was discontinued. A friend of mine has his modded. He plays burned Dreamcast games from any region. If I found a Dreamcast cheap at a yard sale, I'd jump on it myself. In fact, I actually own a Dreamcast game I've never played: Space Channel 5.
