Nintendo delivering full games to reviewers over the Internet

In the most recent episode of IGN’s Nintendo Voice Chat podcast, host Craig Harris mentioned offhand that they received their review copy of the new Nintendo game, Endless Ocean: Blue World via the Internet. It seems Nintendo has begun delivering their games electronically onto IGN’s special hard drive-equipped Wiis. While I wouldn’t consider this a big deal for Sony or Microsoft, this is a huge leap for Nintendo. I might go as far as to say this is a hint of what they could be planning for next generation. Selling their own retail-sized games as downloadable titles? Pretty interesting stuff.

    Hmm, a Wii with a hard drive, you say? I smell “Wii Premium Edition” or something to that extent in the near future as an attempt to bring back hardcore gamers…

    B) Could Michael Pachter be right about a Wii HD? Will it be coming with a hard drive to download full retail games? I would love to see Nintendo do something crazy like that.
