Heavy Rain: Detect the Demo Now!

Submitted by on February 5, 2010 – 8:26 pm5 Comments

Heavy Rain debuts on the 23rd of this month. The demo is scheduled for official release on the 11th. But thanks to the eagle-eyed guys over at Kokatu, with a little detective work (or not, as the case may be) you could be playing it right now.

To lay your hands on a download code today, you need to visit Precinct 52 and solve the case by collecting the correct clues. Or, alternatively, you can just cheat and use the following to help expedite the process and get the right tips in your evidence dossier:

• Short cigarette (117b)
• Origami bird
• Coffee shop C (it says “diner”)
• 117h (tyre tracks).

As far as I know, the answers are still valid. The reason I can’t be 100% sure, however, is because the goddamn websites keeping misloading and keeping me hanging. Frustrated? Me? Finally got through and I can confirm that the answers were still valid as at 18:00 GMT. Now excuse me whilst I disappear for a little while – I have a murder to solve, dude.

Make sure you register under the right region for your PS3 account… I ended up with download codes that only work on UK accounts.

I think all the codes are for the European store, regardless of where you register. I used my US account, but it still gave me a code that could only be redeemed in the European store. A closer look shows that the agreement on the site runs through SCEE, which is Sony's European branch. Guess Fourhman will have to create a Euro account to get his demo. SWEET!

yeah.. kind of weak. they should probably be more upfront about the codes when signing up or participating in the site. i too selected US as my territory, but wound up with codes that dont' seem to work.

if anyone wants my code for the HR demo, and a HR tshirt in Home, have at them:

    R525-9LBR-ERJ3 (shirt)
    8G39-D7B9-976M (demo)

    good luck!

Yeah I got through by registering a US account, about to go try it!

No, I just had to make sure I signed up again on the official US website version, then use that email as the sign-in for the Precinct website linked above. If you're not trying to shortcut the system by going directly to the Precinct, you'll likely be routed through your region's sign-up.

But yeah, based on that demo, I think I'm buying Heavy Rain. Walking controls were wonky, but the vibe was great and the interaction buttons were doable.
