Collector’s Clips: Rayman Arena pop-box

This was mailed to me sometime during 2002 or 2003. Back then, you used to get all kinds of great crazy crap in the mail if you registered your games or were on the PlayStation Underground mailing list. Today, not so much. Internet broke that.

I just “Back then”ed 2003. Oy.

Now, I hate Rayman (as do all good Americans), but this item was pretty interesting. Folded up, it was more or less flat, with a Rayman Arena ad on one side and your mailing address on the reverse. But when you broke the sealing sticker, SHAZAM, the interior rubber bands would pop the assembly into a 3D box. (Popped pic after the jump.) The promo item not only mentioned Rayman Arena, but also Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. When your direct mailer contains an unexpected amount of surface area, you can accomplish bold moves like pushing two games at once.
