Collector’s Clips: Colecovision Storage Instructions

In the time before NES, we had Colecovision. In those days, it appears that storing your console in a way inconsistent with these instructions was expressly prohibited. Why else would they use words like, “must?” Have a look at this card. They’re saying if you’re putting your Colecovision in storage, the controller wells are not a safe place to keep your controllers. You have to put them into the storage center instead. I’m guessing that’s to keep the sticks on the controllers from becoming problematic. Well, more problematic than they are by design.

There’s so much I love about this little piece of paper, but what I enjoy the most may just be how spartan the design is. Beyond that, look at those hyphenated words. That’s a design no-no today. Two of them in one block of text, no less! If you think this is cute, just wait until you see some of the instruction manuals that came with the games.
