Tycho and Bioware Prove We Should Really Wait For A Review
Today’s first Penny-Arcade post featured a relieved Tycho who pre-purchased Mass Effect 2 for PC solely because he would be able to create a new character and shape their background by making choices from Mass Effect‘s important plot points. He was quoting a Bioware Community Coordinator Chris Priestly.
In a last-minute update, though, it turns out that Mr. Priestly was wrong. Well, not completely wrong. You can do that… if you are playing a past test build of the game and not the retail product. Oops.
Tycho isn’t happy about it, and he posted Chris Priestly’s full response and apology for the misinformation, but in the end it proves that we should really wait for reviews that answer our questions (as opposed to those that don’t give the above kind of detail) before running out to buy something. Yes, you’ll miss out on your preorder bonuses, but haven’t we all agreed that encouraging preorder bonuses by you know, making the preorder, is most certainly bad form?
