Ominous (80032014) and (80032013) errors popping up everywhere today

Submitted by on January 5, 2010 – 10:34 pm10 Comments

PSNerrorI tried to enter The PlayStation Store today and was unable. Instead, all I got was this message.

An error has occurred.
(80032014)

Hm? Well, I ran a search and it turns out the error is popping up all over the place today, and nobody has been able to find any documentation of it yet. The people in that thread have all manner of PS3s: launch model 60GBs like mine, 120GB slims, etc. A search of the error code tool turns up nothing as well, though they helpfully suggest the 0s might be Os, which they aren’t.

This error keeps me out of the PlayStation Store, but it hasn’t interfered with BluRay Playback or running of games. I also am able to sign onto PSN, I just can’t see the store or the “What’s New” items. So at this point, it’s a moderate nuisance.

If you’re experiencing this error, Sony is sorry, but they “do not have troubleshooting steps for that error code at this time”. You can fill out this form to let them know. That’s what I’m doing.

UPDATE: The error persists today, but I’ve discovered it’s only the “Game” entrance to the Store that’s broken. I can access the store through the “Video” section, then tab over to Game from within the store and it seems to work.

UPDATE 2: It appears the issue can be fixed by going into the Date and Time Settings and setting the clock “via Internet.” After resetting the clock, the issue fixed itself for me.

I dropped in and out of the store once yesterday and didn't see any problems. *shrug*

The error persists today. Still can't see any of the store content… or access it.

I will see if I have the issue before I go to bed. Are you sure it is nothing with your connection to the Internet. Just checking.

I'm sure. No problem accessing PSN, or entering the PlayStation Store using other links. I can't enter the popup menu that was introduced recently, and What's New won't load. No news ticker either. Three responses from Sony indicate their support people have no idea what I'm talking about, and don't particularly care. Yet the thread on PlayStation.com Forums builds.

Happened to me on Tuesday, rather aggravating. Sony appears to be useless to solve the issue.

Ok I think I figured out how to fix this Error “80032014″. Follow these instructions, and it should hopefully work (It did for me). I'm not a member here so I'm posting as a guest.

    1. Go to the “Date and Time Settings” on the XMB.
    2. Click “Date and Time”
    3. Click “Set Manually”
    4. Set the Date to January 1st or anything before January 1st. (The key here is to set it before the problem occurred)
    5. Apply these settings. (Your PlayStation Store & “What's New?” links should now be functioning properly)

    - If your PlayStation Store & “What's New?” links are now functioning properly:
    6. Go back to the “Date & Time Settings”,
    7. Click “Date and Time”
    8. Click “Set via Internet” (Instead of Manual)
    9. Apply settings.

This will bring your system back to the present date, and the PlayStation Store & “What's New?” Error's “80032014″ should not continue.

Let me know if this works for you guys. If it messes up after you setup the date Via Internet, then simply set it Manually again to a previous date before the error occurred.

That's interesting. My PS3 clock has always been set to Via Internet and I did not experience this problem. Thanks for the tip Rafael!

Yeah my clock was also set Via Internet too, apparently there was some conflict from the 4th – 6th of January that screwed everything up. So Manually backtracking the Date seemed to fix it, and when you set it up back Via Internet, it works fine again. (Cause it skips the dates where the conflict originally occurred).

Thats the only explanation I can think of. Glad it hasn't happened to you though.

I did not have to change the date to anything else first. All I had to do was click “set via Internet” and it fixed it immediately.
