pichus_thumbGrab your Diamond/Pearl/Platinum generation Pokemon and swing by GameStop between January 30 and February 14, and you can download a special shiny Pichu. The official Pokemon press insists on referring to it as “Pikachu-colored.” Which really doesn’t make much sense until you recall that Pichu (baby Pikachu, naturally) are a somewhat flat shade of yellow. So this is a Pichu tarted up in a brighter yellow.

Still, event pokemon are considered highly prized by collectors. Even when the event is held at a ubiquitous location like GameStop. I still get random emails by poke-fans desperate for me to trade them the not-otherwise-interesting pokemon I grabbed at a 2004 Toys R Us event.

More interesting than a yellow Pichu is that the little guy can be traded forward into the upcoming Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. With Pikachu-colored Pichu in tow, you can encounter the rare Spiky-eared Pichu.
