Star Trek: Belly of the Beast Trailer

Submitted by Joe Haygood on December 3, 2009 – 12:37 pmComments

This new footage shows off more of the space combat that will be present in the full version of Star Trek Online come February 2010.  While all of this space footage looks fantastic, and shows that there is probably some tactics involved, as should be with a space combat simulation (remember, think in three dimensions Khan), but I am more interested in seeing how the ground combat will work into the game.

Recently, Ryan Scott wrote up a preview for Star Trek Online over at Gamespy.com, and was rather critical of the game, especially over the away team missions, stating that, “I’ve even heard whispers that the ground game got culled from Cryptic’s other middling MMO, Champions Online: Early beta players reported that melee attacks initially sent enemy mobs flying hundreds of meters backwards”.

I love the concept of a Star Trek Online MMORPG, but I have a bad feeling that we will not be getting the game that was conceptualized so many years ago.
