Review: Dragon Ball Z – Ultimate Tenkaichi (PS3)

October 28, 2011 – 12:44 pm |

I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.
This year, we …

Spike VGA Summary

157763-157597-vgalogo So, if you live in America, and can stand to watch the sort of channel/website which bills itself as “the premier destination for men” (whose listings seem to consist of an endless loop of either CSI, wrestling or boobs), and have an interest in that sort of thing, you may have watched the Spike Videogame Awards. In my opinion, the awards were largely incidental, and just served as padding between the rather more interesting trailers which were shown. Nevertheless, a summary of the VGA’s contents can be found after the jump. Enjoy!

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 has been covered already by Vikki, so I won’t repeat that here. Other than that, though…

Activision has has decided to re-launch their True Crime series (for some reason…). Trailer below.

We all knew that Halo Reach was coming, but the debut trailer shows something new- girls! That’s right, females in T3h HAl0es! ZOMG! There’s also a Spartan with a skull mask. Is this Halo or Army of Two?

Medal of Honour (sorry, Honor) is being rebooted, so they’ve released a trailer for that… it looks a bit Modern-Warfare-ish. Well, it would do, being a game about military actions in a contemporary setting. The trailer places some fairly heavy emphasis on vehicles, so I’m guessing that’s one of the points which EA hopes will contend with Activision’s colossus.

We knew there was going to be a Star Wars announcement, but sadly, it was just The Force Unleashed II. It looks nice (hey, it’s a cinematic trailer) but I honestly thought the Sith Apprentice should have stayed dead, and that half-baked chapter of Star Wars history be closed forever.

How you can ‘forget’ some sand is a little beyond me, but this Prince (by which I mean the old prince seems to have some sort of Nathan Drake-esque hair cement holding it in place.

Green Day: Rock Band… don’t care, but I suppose it’ll sell better than Guitar Hero: Van Halen.

Another trailer for Crackdown 2… blowing stuff up is always awesome!

Finally, something called… Tron?

There were also some awards, but to be honest, they’re pretty throwaway. Megan Fox won one for being in the game of Transformers 2, which for me invalidates the whole proceedings, but for those of you who really care that much…
