I really liked last year’s DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit 2. It felt like the franchise had finally achieved some serious attention with a game that was both deep and fun.

Singstar Holiday Update. 20 Million Units Sold

Over at the Playstation Blog yesterday, Sony put out an article detailing the new features that will be found in the latest update for Singstar.  The update is a mixed bag, but has enough useful features to make it a good update.  However, it does not fix the poor song selections from the European store to the US store.  I really wish London Studios and Sony would address this issue, as a 200+ song differential between the two should not exist.

As for some of the highlights in the release:

  • You can now purchase a song from the user videos screen.  This way, if you find a song you are interested in, you can just buy it while watching videos, rather than find it in the store.
  • You can now view the top ten downloads for the week in the What’s Hot section of the Singstar Store.
  • Bookmarking other users media, so you can jump to it immediately
  • Adding XMB user profiles directly into the game, so you do not have to add someone’s name to the playlist.
  • Also, there are quite a few bug fixes in the update

Also, since we are entering the holidays, I did want to make note of two things.  First off is the fact that one of the secret trophies in Singstar unlocks if you play the game on Christmas.  I would play the game on both the 24th and 25th, just in case the clock is based on GMT time.  The other item came from the same Playstation Blog article, which let us know that Singstar has now sold over 20 million units since its launch on the PS2 in 2004.  Not too shabby for a karaoke driven experience.
