Following the 6.20 firmware update for the PSP, PSN have launched their new digital comic service and from today, PSPers in the US can use it to access hundreds of digital comics at the PSN store, with plans to add new titles every week.

In addition to the variety of titles from Marvel, Disney and IDW – which seem to range from $0.99 to $1.99 – the store also provides a sizeable collection of free comics to sample.

The PSN Blog say that the Digital Comics reader is “unique to the PSP system” and that its Autoflow feature – the facility that enables you to zoom in and out – is “so intuitive, you feel as if you are holding and reading the actual book”.

To get reading, download the Digital Comics Reader onto your PSP.

I'm very skeptical of the claim that it feels like you're holding the book. Not on a screen that's roughly 1/16th the size of the typical two-page comic spread.

But if you're buying, “Marvels” from 1994 is pretty much fantastic.
