Sanitarium Comes to Good Old Games

Submitted by Joe Haygood on November 10, 2009 – 12:30 pmComments

1e67ab99b57597bf197ded7b62025e791048b5e3For those of us that can remember back to 1998, there was a great adventure game that was released on the PC by the name, Sanitarium.  Sanitarium was made by a company called ASC Games.  The game did not sell all that well, but it did end up garnering a lot of cult status and fame in the gaming community because of how creepy the game could be when playing.

ASC Games ended up signing with Activision to make a game based on the role-playing game Werewolf, and a few years later, that game was cancelled, and the company disappeared shortly thereafter.  While that company is gone, ASC Games’ Sanitarium lives on, now without having to switch discs to install, and with no DRM whatsoever at GOG.com.  Add in the fact that they have included a full ripped soundtrack from the game, and anyone that wants to play a great, scary adventure game that will mess with your mind should grab this game.

For more information, check out the Sanitarium page at Good Old Games.

I was going to write about this, actually. Glad you beat me to it. Fantastic game! Horrible voice acting. Which podcast of ours featured lots of audio from the game?
  • I think it was episode 20. At least that is when we had the trivia question that involved the game. I could be wrong, but I will probably have to check later.
