Get Your PlayOn For Less Until Nov 30th

playon_logoThe recent death of my trusty DVD player followed by the advent of the official Netflix streaming solution disc has, atop our cancellation of all pay TV services several months ago, ushered in a new era of reliance on the PlayStation 3 for almost all video entertainment. Part of that is the PS3 web browser, which works with some sites but is blocked by Hulu, and part of that is PlayOn’s streaming software that runs on my Windows laptop and lets me play Hulu and several other sites via DLNA streaming on my PS3.

PlayOn works well for me, and I’ve recently started experimenting with its community-developed plugins giving access to video programming from sites such as HGTV and G4TV. Some don’t work so well — PBS comes to mind — while others get the job done. It also lets me stream compatible music files from my laptop so I can share my MP3s and play them through my TV if I so desire.

Anyway, I only bring this up because PlayOn is on sale for half off, that’s just $20 for a limited time. They have also announced a beta version for the Wii that you can read up on at PlayOn.tv.
