Aw, the N-Gage is finally dead
We all thought it about four seconds after the N-Gage debuted in 2003, but the entire concept has finally been put to pasture by the overlords at Nokia. The device was re-launched in 2004 and eventually evolved into a less-taco-like form factor. In 2008, they attempted to turn “N-Gage” into a brand of mobile gaming delivery for other Nokia phones. From the Yahoo News article:
“We will no longer publish new games for the N-Gage platform,” Nokia said on its N-Gage blog, to which a user calling himself Jon replied: “It’s a sad day for N-Gage fans.”
N-Gage fans?
I know we always talk about enjoying competition in the marketplace because it benefits the consumer in the end, but can anybody think of a single innovation that the N-Gage added to the handheld gaming race?

Dude, I remember when the N-Gage came out, and I wanted one of those phones so badly. Side talking was going to be the rage. And then I was humbled by the dreaded sales numbers that showed the phone to be a complete failure.
Woe is me. Even Jay-Z could not make side talking cool – http://www.allbusiness.com/retail-trade/miscell….
That website is still, to this day, and shall ALWAYS BE, the greatest thing N-Gage added to our world.
SIDE TALKIN'!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I've seen some very positive things written about some of the online games for the phone, very MMO-ish persistent stuff that was ahead of its time. I'm recalling some empire building game being mentioned.
