Last Flight: horror, humour and lots and LOTS of blood

Last Flight

What do you get if you put the genres horror, action and adventure into a blender, and chuck in a Wii, a vampire and a comic book? The action-adventure horror title Last Flight, that’s what!

Scheduled for a 2009 release, Last Flight will hit WiiWare in four separate episodes, and developers Bloober Team make no apology for that. Reasonably unknown and pedaling a new title, Bloober Team are anxious to make the game as ‘accessible and as affordable’ as they possibly can – so if that means avoiding the costs of a boxed release, then so be it. And like many developers recently, they’ve been seemingly seduced by the unique gameplay possibilities afforded by the Wiimote. “We find the Wii Remote really intriguing and innovative and we wanted to use it to create a unique gaming experience,” they say. “We would also love to see more games for the core audience on that console. That’s why we decided to create Last Flight. It’s a fun action-adventure game with cool control system that stands out from the crowd.”

Details on the storyline are scant at present, but we’re told that we follow protagonist, Larry Adelman, a fat, bald, culinary critic who – as oh-so-often happens – ends up in the wrong place, at the wrong time. Unwittingly sharing a flight with ‘sexy’ Romanian Anna, he soon discovers that the body she’s transporting for burial is decidedly not dead. Cue carnage, vampires, fighting and lots and lots of blood.

Hit the jump for more insanely blood-splattered screens!

So what do you think? Does it matter to you if games are downloadable or boxed, and how important is price when it comes to toting new titles? Are the screens interesting you?

Personally, it’s hard for me to tell because every time I look at one I am BLINDED by the gloriousness of Adelman’s awesome shirt …

Man, what's with all the kiddy WiiWare game anymore?

Just kidding. This looks kind of interesting, but I'm not feeling this episodic crap. I want the whole game when I buy it the first time. Otherwise I just feel like I'm getting nickel and dimed. If they want to make it cheap for the consumer, then just make it a $20 title on the shelves, don't charge me $10 x 4 for the whole game. I can see what your doing, even if you are doing it via Moon Bucks.

Yeah – it's an interesting concept (and one designed – apparently – to ensure that the game is of the 'highest' WiiWare quality). For me, it's all going to hinge on the price, I think …
